Robot Vacuum Cleaners

We understand that purchasing a robot vacuum cleaner is an investment, and we want to help ensure you're getting the best possible performance from your device. If your robot vacuum isn't cleaning or mopping as expected, this article will help you troubleshoot the issue and clarify what your return options are.

First Things First: What You Should Know About Robot Vacuums
Robot vacuums (including popular models like the Ecovacs Deebot, Dreametech, and others) offer convenient cleaning solutions, but they do have certain limitations and quirks depending on the environment, surface type, and maintenance habits.

Many performance concerns often come down to minor issues that can be resolved at home.

Troubleshooting Checklist:

1. Is the Vacuum Not Cleaning Properly?

  • Empty the dustbin: A full dustbin will reduce suction power.
  • Clean the filters: Washable HEPA filters should be cleaned regularly.
  • Check the main brush: Hair and debris can get tangled and block performance.
  • Inspect the side brushes: If they’re worn or stuck, replace or clean them.
  • Ensure the wheels are moving freely: Debris can cause wheels to jam, reducing navigation accuracy.
  • Check suction level in the app (for app-enabled models): Many vacuums default to ‘Eco’ or ‘Quiet’ mode.

2. Is Mopping Not Working?

  • Ensure the mop pad is correctly installed and not dry.
  • Use only water unless your manual says otherwise – Detergents can block the mop system or void warranties.
  • Check the water tank: Is it filled properly? Is it leaking?
  • Make sure the vacuum is set to a mopping mode – Some models need to be switched manually in-app or with a button.
  • Don’t expect deep scrubbing – Robot mops are designed for light surface maintenance, not stain removal.

3. Is the Robot Getting Stuck or Missing Areas?

  • Clear the floor of wires, rugs with tassels, and uneven thresholds.
  • Ensure there’s enough lighting for LIDAR or camera-based navigation.
  • Create virtual boundaries using the app or magnetic strips (if applicable).
  • Update the firmware via the robot’s app

4. App / Wi-Fi Problems?

  • Wi-Fi Check: Is your Wi-Fi 2.4GHz? Are you sure of the password? Is the robot close to your router? Are you on any VPN’s or using any Proxy’s? This can effect the ability of the robot to communicate.
  • Robot Wi-Fi Reset: Let's reset the robot's Wi-Fi connection. This may differ based on the model and make - refer to the manual.
  • App Reinstall: Have you tried reinstalling the app and updating it?

5. Won't Turn On / Charge / Short battery Life

  • Charging Dock: Is the dock plugged straight into the wall (not a power strip or extension plug)? Any lights on the dock?
  • Clean Contacts: Wipe the metal charging contacts on the robot and dock with a dry cloth. Does it light up when placed on the dock now?
  • Battery Dead: To better understand the cause and determine the next steps, the unit will likely need to be inspected and assessed by the supplier.

6. Common Misunderstandings

  • Robot vacuums are a great tool for maintaining a clean home on a daily basis. While they help reduce the need for frequent deep cleaning, they’re designed to complement rather than completely replace traditional cleaning methods.
  • Battery run time varies depending on suction mode and flooring type.
  • Mopping functions are best suited to tile, laminate, or sealed hardwood - not carpets or heavily textured floors.
  • Coverage takes time – some models map before cleaning; others follow a random pattern.

Return Policy Overview
We are aligned with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), which allows returns only under specific conditions:

  • The issue is due to improper maintenance or unauthorised modification.
