What is my CVV code?

That's the 3-digit number on the back of your Visa or MasterCard, usually around the area where your signature is supposed to go.

Fun fact: A CVV code sometimes also goes by the name of CVC, CVD, CVN or Kevin.

About 3D Secure

3D Secure is an extra layer of security to make sure that your online payments are safe and secure. When your card is enrolled for 3D Secure you will have the peace of mind that your card cannot be used by others.

In general, you will either be sent a One Time PIN (OTP) for every transaction, or you may be asked to enter a PIN.

These protocols are called Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode, and the precise implementation depend on your card type and bank.

What is my UCount Rewards 3D SecureCode?

Your UCount Rewards card’s 3D SecureCode is a five-digit number that is used to authorise online transactions.

You can only get your 3D SecureCode by logging onto the UCount Rewards website, selecting ‘Manage my UCount Rewards Card’ and then selecting ‘Get my 3D SecureCode’.

3D Secure helps keep your payments safe.

What is the balance of my UCount Rewards?

There are a few easy ways to find your UCount Rewards balance:

  • You can SMS the word "BALANCE" to 45224. SMS costs R1.00.
  • Standard Bank send you an SMS with your rewards points balance each month, only if you have a minimum balance of 250 points.
  • Log on the UCount Rewards website to download your rewards statement and to check your balance here.
  • You can call the UCount Rewards Contact Centre on 0860 82 68 68.

 

I sent payment but EFT order is pending

If you paid via EFT, and manually sent through some sort of payment confirmation, we'll need a little time to process, since one of our specially trained humans will need to get involved and it can take a little longer for your order to be confirmed.

This is particularly the case when:

  • cash deposits at a teller
  • When you forward a proof of payment from your bank to us
  • you take a photo of a payment slip
  • Screenshots sent from mobile banking apps
  • A copy of a fax, that got scanned and emailed to us

To prevent this: while in online banking, get your bank to send it straight to us and all is dandy.

Where do I send proof of payment?

In online banking, please get your bank to send proof of payment, and you'll be done. We have a system in place that reads those emails and your order will be automatically confirmed.

If you send one manually (especially faxed/scanned/photographed), one of our specially trained humans will need to get involved and it can take a little longer for your order to be confirmed. This is when:

  • cash deposits at a teller
  • When you forward a proof of payment from your bank to us
  • you take a photo of a payment slip
  • Screenshots sent from mobile banking apps
  • ...You probably get the drift...

So: while in online banking, get your bank to send it straight to us and all is dandy.

It says my credit card was blacklisted?

To prevent fraud, we don't allow cards issued outside of South Africa.

If you get an error message containing something like "Fraud - Blacklisted" it means the card you're using is listed as a foreign card. Please try a South African card.

Please note that we have seen cases of South African FNB cards being wrongfully listed as from Sri Lanka. We can fix that on an individual basis.

So the issue may be with you, or it may be with us. But if you're using a foreign card, it's definitely you.

Can I pay partially with Standard Bank UCount Rewards?

Definitely.

Select UCount Rewards in checkout, nominate the amount payable with your UCount Rewards card and let the process take over. You will be redirected to a page where you can pay the remainder with a credit or debit card, EFT, eBucks, Zapper or SnapScan.

By the way, the same (or similar) goes for eBucks and Discovery Miles.

Part payment with Discovery Miles?

Absolutely.

Select Discovery Miles in checkout and let the process take over. Part payments, allowing you to top up to the required with a credit or debit are done entirely on the Disco website.

Can I pay part of the total with eBucks?

Absolutely!

Select eBucks in checkout and let the process take over. An eBucks payment for less than the order total will redirect you back to our site and allow you to pay the remainder with a credit or debit card, EFT, Zapper, SnapScan or UCount Rewards.

My UCount payment failed

One of two things are usually the case: 1) you don't know your 3D-SecureCode or 2) an insufficient balance.

  1. For 3D Secure, you can get your UCount Rewards 3D SecureCode by logging onto the UCount Rewards website, selecting ‘Manage my UCount Rewards Card’ and then selecting ‘Get my 3D SecureCode’.
  2. To find your current UCount Rewards balance, SMS the word "BALANCE" to 45224 (this SMS costs R1.00) Please make sure to check your available UCount Rewards balance and make sure you haven't entered an amount larger than your available balance.
Top-up payment with SnapScan

Ok so you can pay us with SnapScan using the following code, but ONLY if one of our (mostly) friendly Customer Service agents has told you so.

Please note: payments using the following code do NOT contain any identifiable data to let us know who's paid what, so you're basically donating money. To a pretty good cause.

However. If one of our Customer Service people has asked you to use this page, she or he will be keeping an eye out for your payment and we will allocate it to your order. So, in that case, all will be well.

We accept MasterCard and Visa, so you can go right ahead and get those cards warmed up, because they're good with us. Whether you're deeply in overdraft or frugally spending some of that year-end bonus you got back in oh-six: we don't care, as long as your card works.

UCount Rewards, eBucks and Discovery Miles are those things you earn without having to do anything for it. Basically free money - brilliant.

Snapscan and Zapper - allow you to scan that cool QR code with your phone to send money our way. Simply download the appropriate apps on your smartphone.

EFT - that's an Electronic Funds Transfer. IMPORTANT: Get your bank to email us your proof of payment within two hours. Otherwise, your order will be cancelled and the items in your cart go back to GenPop.

How come you guys know my credit card number?1?

We don't.

We use a "tokenisation" system called 1Click provided by the good people over at MyGate to make credit card payments suck less.

This means that they keep your credit card on file. And that is one super secure file. We, on the other hand, only keep the data you can see on the checkout page: the name, part of your credit card number, and the expiry date: not nearly enough for us (or anyone else) to replicate your card.

By the by, this is in line with international standards.

Can I have your bank account details?

Sure thing! We have accounts with FNB and Standard Bank, feel free to use whichever is closer to you:
